The Residence of Holmwood Bunglow

Project: Holmwood Cottage
Client: Residential Home
Location: Leicestershire
Scope: Design and Installation of a Solar Energy System

Overview

Welcome to this recent solar installation at a bungalow in the heart of Leicestershire. We’ve just completed a high-efficiency 6.6kW solar system, carefully designed to maximise energy production and savings for this home.
The system consists of 16 all-black Jinko solar panels, elegantly fitted across two sides of the roof—the south and east-facing aspects—ensuring optimal sunlight exposure throughout the day. Jinko panels are known for their high performance and durability, making them a perfect choice for this residential project.

At the core of the system is the Solax 5kW hybrid inverter, paired with an 11.8kWh storage battery. This combination allows the property to store excess solar energy generated during the day for use at night or during cloudy weather, reducing reliance on the grid and providing energy security. With the Solax inverter, the system ensures efficient energy conversion, allowing the household to get the most out of the sunlight.
This system is Connected to Octopus Energy and so takes advantage of their fantastic nighttime tariffand generous export rate. This means the storage battery can charge during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper, and then supply power during the early morning or winter days when your solar panels are generating less energy. It’s a perfect combination that reduces energy bills and increases self-sufficiency—day and night. It also means that any excess solar generation that is sent back to the grid becomes a revenue stream for the owner as Octopus can pay you for this. Some of octopus energy’s tarriffs pay attractive rates for buying back excess storage energy from you during peak times in the day thus giving you added revenue from your system.
Thanks to the integration of the solar storage battery, the homeowner can take advantage of self-consumption, using the energy they’ve produced even when the sun isn’t shining. This not only cuts down on electricity bills but also provides peace of mind during power outages with the Eps function, ensuring critical loads can be powered directly from the battery in the event of a grid failure.

This system has been designed with efficiency and savings in mind, maximising performance with the ideal placement of panels and the right balance between generation and storage. And with the added benefit of a clean, renewable energy source, this installation contributes to a lower carbon footprint while increasing the home’s energy independence.

With solar and storage, the financial benefits are clear. By taking advantage of the energy produced during the day and storing it for later use, homeowners can see significant savings on their electricity bills, all while increasing the long-term value of their property.

This solar system represents a smart, sustainable solution for any homeowner looking to reduce energy costs, become more energy independent, and help protect the planet. Another fantastic installation, right here in Leicester.”
